The universal acceptance of the Catch-All
Filter-Drier is due to its unique molded porous core, consisting
of a blend of highly effective desiccants. The quality features
built into it assure years of service on any refrigeration system. |
|
| |
| |
 |
| |
 |
Moisture |
| |
|
The Catch-All Filter-Drier removes
moisture from the refrigerant by adsorbing and retaining it
deep within the desiccant granules. The CW line of Catch-Alls
is designed for use with polyolester oils and features approximately
twice the water capacity of a standard Catch-All. |
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
Foreign Matter |
| |
|
The Catch-All Filter-Drier will filter
out scale, solder particles, carbon, sludge, dirt, or any other
foreign matter with negligible pressure drop. Fine particles
that would go through an ordinary strainer are removed down
to a minimum size in one pass filtration. The large filtering
area of the Catch-All Filter-Drier core permits it to collect
a large amount of dirt without plug up. |
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
Acid |
| |
|
The Catch-All Filter-Drier is unexcelled
in acid removal ability. The hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, and
various organic acids are adsorbed and held by the desiccant
in a manner similar to the adsorption of moisture. Tests have
demonstrated that the Catch-All Filter-Drier will remove over
10 times as much acid as the desiccant used in most other driers.
This ability, along with its excellent ability to clean up the
oil, is responsible for the excellent field performance in cleaning
up severely contaminated systems. |
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
Oil Sludge and Varnish |
| |
|
Even the best refrigeration oils
break down to produce varnish, sludge, and organic acids. Only
the Catch-All Filter-Drier is capable of removing these products
of oil decomposition. |

Special Applications |
| |
|
A special "HH" core Catch-All
Filter-Drier is available to remove wax which frequently causes
difficulty on low temperature Refrigerant 22 and 502 systems.
For cap tube systems, use the C-032-CAP or CW-032-CAP Catch-All
which has fittings suitable for attaching to any size capillary
tube. |

CW Series |

| |
| |
|
 |
| |
 |
New
Refrigerants, New Oils, New Challenges |
| |
|
The CW Series of cores and filter-driers are
a new generation of contaminant removal products.
Specially designed to be effective with today's
new refrigerants, the CW Series averages twice
the moisture capacity of a standard Catch-All
Filter-Drier and provides the proven contaminant
removal qualities you expect from Sporlan.
|
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
Because we recognise how critical
the core is to a filter-drier, Sporlan conducted extensive research
and testing to develop the ideal desiccant blend for the new
refrigerants and the oils they require. We've taken this blend
of molecular sieve and activated alumina and shaped it into
the famous molded porous core. |

Moisture
|
| |
|
New refrigerants and synthetic oils have forced users to
re-evaluate the way in which they protect systems. The synthetic
polyolester oils, also known as POE oils, have hydroscopic
tendencies that readily attract and absorb moisture. Because
POE oils attract and absorb moisture, using them with new
refrigerants naturally increases the amount of moisture in
a system. We know that all refrigeration systems contain certain
amounts of moisture. We also know large amounts of moisture
jeopardise the proper operation of refrigeration components.
If left untreated, a moisture-rich environment will form organic
and inorganic acids, which in turn could possibly lead to
the formation of copper chloride. These contaminants attack
system components and adversely affect their performance.
The CW Series offers a desiccant blend with an appetite for
moisture, adsorbing approximately twice as much water as the
standard core.
The CW Series is compatible with the traditional refrigerants,
R-12, R-22, amd R-502, and can be used for severe moisture
problems.

| |
 |
Acid Removal and Oil Cleanup
|
| |
|
With the CW Series, you get a filter-drier
that not only adsorbs and holds moisture, but also handles acid
and oil cleanup. While the standard Catch-All remains unsurpassed
in acid removal, the CW Series continues to outperform a typical
competitive product. The CW core contains the same desiccant
used in the standard Catch-All that is proven superior in its
ability to remove hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, and various organic
acids found to produce harmful corrosive effects in both mineral
and polyolester oil systems. |
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
Filtration
|
| |
|
The design and strength of the CW
core have not been compromised. The desiccant composition produces
a filter of the same quality standards expected from Sporlan.
With the CW Series, you'll find a solid core in which refrigerant
travels around, across and through a large filtering area.
This triple filtration catches a large amount of dirt with negligible
pressure drop. With a strong solid core, attrition is not a
concern, as it is with loose fill or compacted bead filter-driers. |

A Core to Meet Every
Need
|
| |
|
As you choose a Sporlan Catch-All
specialised to meet your needs, remember that each core is fully
compatible with all commercially available refrigerants. Sporlan's
standard Catch-All core remains unsurpassed in its acid removal
and oil cleanup ability. The "HH" core, with its special
charcoal blend of desiccants, removes wax and hermetic motor
burnout contaminants.
With the CW Series core, you gain maximum water capacity for
alternative refrigerants and polyolester oils without losing
the advantage of a molded porous core. |
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
A Specialised Solution
|
| |
|
Specially designed for new refrigerants
and oils, the CW Series core also fully meets compressor manufacturers'
stated requirements for alumina content.
The CW Catch-All flow capacities for R-12 and R-502 are the
same as the standard Catch-All.. |

Cores for replaceable core type
filter-driers are molded of exactly the same desiccants that
are used in the popular sealed filter-driers.
Cores are individually packed in metal cans, fully activated,
and hermetically sealed against moisture and dirt.
Filter Elements are dried and packed in individual sealed metal
cans. This method of packaging prevents the element from picking
up moisture from the atmosphere.
The method of mounting the cores or filter elements on the end
plate by means of tie rods or center tube construction makes
them very easy to install and remove. Detailed instructions
are printed on each can. Each can contains a "triple gasket"
consisting of a new end plate gasket, an end plate gasket for
certain competitive filter-driers, and a core gasket where desired.
